Route discovery optimization for dynamic source routing in mobile ad hoc networks

چکیده
A new route discovery optimization based on unicast query is proposed that result in as much as 30% reduction in the number of query packets propagated whenever a new route needs to be discovered. It achieves this by unicasting the query packets along an existing route towards a target neighbor. Simulation results show that a network with high degree of nodal mobility benefits most from this optimization.

A novel technique for optimising the efficiency of route discovery is proposed. The optimisation aims to minimise the number of cached route replies (RREP), which is a significant source of overhead for the dynamic source routing (DSR) protocol.
